Microbiology Manager

Department: Microbiology
Location: West Columbia, SC

Microbiology Manager

Position Summary:

  • Oversee daily performance of assigned duties for the Microbiology Department, thus providing support to Production, Engineering, and Chemistry Departments and upper management. 
  • Assists with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. 

 

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Manage the overall operations of the Microbiology Department.
  • Review / write procedures, test methods, protocols for method validations 
  • Oversee and or perform final review of reports, trend reports, or charts generated from testing, or QC functions
  • Purchase of required testing materials, equipment, and services. Schedule service, maintenance, with outside providers if needed.
  • Initiate reports, investigations for trends, OOS, NCR’s as required by company.
  • Internal, external audits of service, materials, and testing providers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Regionally accredited B.S. Biology, Microbiology, or Life Science Degree
  • Prior Pharmaceutical Industry/Supervisory experience preferred.
  • USP guidelines, cGMP, Aseptic Processing, Aseptic Environmental Monitoring techniques and methods, Microbiological quality control testing.
  • Specific expertise, skills and knowledge within microbiology gained through education and experience.
  • The ability and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organizational and business demands.
  • The ability to create and contribute environment that values people, encourages trust, teamwork, and open communication, and provides participation, learning, feedback and recognition.
  • The ability to effectively manage one self, demonstrates integrity, be productive under pressure, and achieve development goals.
  • The ability to manage a multitude of resources and to be accurate and current with data and information.
  • Position requires bending, typing, climbing, lifting, reaching, vision (20/20), standing, sitting, walking, and hearing.
  • Computer literate: MS Word, Access, and Excel
